Thirty Minutes to Reconnect
Find Steady Ground and Simple Beauty Amid the Season’s Noise
Stepping away from the noise—even for just thirty minutes—can reset your entire day.
This morning, Killian and I wandered through the woods behind our homestead, surrounded by the brilliant golds and fiery reds of fall. As the leaves crunched beneath our feet and the crisp air filled our lungs, I was reminded of how essential these small moments of stillness are, especially as we stand on the threshold of the holiday season.
We’re about to enter the busiest, most demanding time of year. The calendar fills up with gatherings, shopping lists grow longer, and expectations—both our own and others’—can feel overwhelming. It’s easy to let stress become the soundtrack of November and December.
But what if we chose differently?
What if we committed to taking just thirty minutes each day to step away, to reconnect with nature, to reconnect with ourselves? Not as a luxury, but as an essential practice in finding our ground.
When you’re surrounded by the quiet beauty of the natural world—whether it’s a woodland trail, a neighborhood park, or even your own backyard—something shifts. The constant mental chatter quiets. Your breathing deepens. You remember what peace feels like.
These walks aren’t about covering miles or achieving fitness goals. They’re about creating space for clarity. They’re about noticing the way light filters through branches, feeling the earth beneath your feet, and giving yourself permission to simply be present.
As the holiday season approaches, I’m making a commitment to protect this daily ritual. Thirty minutes to ground myself. Thirty minutes to find beauty and peace in the midst of chaos. Thirty minutes that make all the other hours more manageable.
Join me? Let’s walk into the holidays with intention, one peaceful step at a time. Your future self will thank you.
